THE AMERICAN REP-OLUTION

Unsanctioned Powerlifting Meet | Gainesville Barbell | July 4, 2026

An unsanctioned powerlifting meet at Gainesville Barbell to celebrate 250 years of American excellence. It’s unsanctioned, so no federation requirements. Just a lot of patriot lifters - beginner or experienced - lifting heavy and having fun. Spectators are welcome too. Come hang out, enjoy the July 4 festivities, and celebrate strength the American way.


Spots are limited for lifters. If you want in, register now to claim yours.

EVENT DETAILS:

  • Competitor weigh-in: July 3, 2026 | 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
  • Competitor check-in: July 4, 2026 | 7:45 AM (required for rules meeting) 
  • First lift: 9:00 AM 
  • Location: Gainesville Barbell | 1126 NW 2nd St. Ste. B, Gainesville, FL 32601
  • Equipment: 
    • Squat and Bench: Power bar + combo rack 
    • Deadlift: Deadlift bar 

Divisions:

  • Raw (knee sleeves) 
  • Classic Raw (knee wraps)

If you’ve ever thought about competing but felt intimidated by professional meets, this is your shot. This meet is for:

  • Amateur lifters who want to try a meet in a low-pressure environment 
  • Experienced lifters looking for a fun challenge 
  • Gym regulars who want something interesting to train for
  • Friends, family, and anyone who wants to celebrate Independence Day a different way

What You Get

This is a full meet experience, without the pressure of being a sanctioned competition:

  • Real attempts on squat, bench, and deadlift 
  • Judges, commands, and competition structure 
  • A crowd that's excited about your lifts
  • A chance to hit numbers you wouldn't hit alone 


New to Meets? Read This First

If you're not familiar with powerlifting competition rules and lifting technique, start here. 


Squat

  • Break parallel (hip crease below knee) 
  • Start and finish with knees locked 
  • No double bounce 
  • Wait for “Rack” command 

Common misses

  • Not hitting depth 
  • Soft lockout 
  • Moving your feet 
  • Racking early 


Bench Press

  • Head, shoulders, glutes stay on bench 
  • Feet flat 
  • Pause on the chest 
  • Full lockout before rack command 

Common misses

  • No pause 
  • Hips coming up 
  • Uneven lockout 
  • Racking early 


Deadlift

  • One smooth pull to lockout 
  • Hips and knees locked 
  • Shoulders back 
  • Wait for “Down” command 

Common misses

  • Hitching 
  • Not fully upright 
  • Dropping early 


Judging

  • 3 judges per lift 
  • 2 out of 3 white lights = good lift 
  • Miss a command = no lift
